What
concerns the issue of distribution in Macedonia after
the Liberation: it can be viewed (or a chronological
review can be made) - only with a full view on the
first institutional forms of the Macedonian cinematography.
The development of the distribution went through
few phases with several institutions that continually
were inheriting each other in a row, until the constitution
of the distributor "Macedonia Film". They
were: DEPARTMENT FOR CINEMATOGRAPHY (established at
1st of February, 1945); FIDIMA (established at 3rd
of June, 1945); RASFILM (established at 9th of August,
1946); FILMSKO (established at 25th of November, 1947);
MAKEDONIJA (established at 30th of June, 1952). In
1968, "Macedonia Film" got its title as
it is today. In 1988, the widening of the current
activities of "Macedonia Film" happened.
The following activities were added: renting and distribution
of films and videotapes, production of films and videotapes,
screening of films and videotapes, as well as re-recording
of videotapes.
Since 1948 exists the Film Screening Company "City
Cinemas" that started under the name of "People's
Cinemas".
The Film & Videotapes Distribution Company "Manaki
Film" is a private enterprise, established
at 26th of November, 1992. "Manaki
Film" continuingly deals with the distribution
of the screening rights since the establishing, and
since 1997 with video distribution also.
In 1997, the Distribution Company "Nirvana"
starts with its work.
