Year 1947

The first Macedonian documentary films were produced after the liberation of the country. They were "Grain for the People", produced by "Filmsko-Skopje", screenplay by Jovan Boskovski and the director was Trajce Popov. Another film was "With the Elections to the New Victories", screenplay by Kole Chashule, and directed by Blagoja Drnkov. Both films were a kind of visual "agitation", tipical for that period and full of dynamic social and economic transformations. Anyway, those films represented the characteristic way of living, the people and their activities in respectfully documentary way of access.

Trajce Popov continued cinematographing reports from Macedonia for newsreels produced by "Zvezda Film" (17 issues of film reports in total number, in 1947) till 1949, when the film reporter Nikola Hristovski definitively replaced him.

Following the example of the other republics, in Macedonia, the newsreels started producing also e.i. "Filmski pregled" (Film Review - Newsreel). 1947, the first two issues of the newsreels were produced. They were directed by Trajce Popov and Blagoja Drnkov. These newsreels dealt with reports on the land-reclamation measures in Strumica and surroundings, on the buildings' construction in Skopje, the celebration of the holiday "9-th of September" in Gorna Dhzumaja etc.

The cinematographing of the documentary film "Makedonija" ("Macedonia"), produced by "Avala Film", from Belgrade started. The screenplay was written by Kole Casule and Miodrag Urgevic, and directed by Zorz Skrigin. The Distribution company "RASFILM" was transformed into "Filmsko" with its office in Skopje. The main goals of this company were: distribution of films throunghout Macedonia, film inspection and repairing the technical equipment in cinemas. On 02.07.1947, a Commission for cinematography was founded by a Decree of the Goverment of the People Republic of Macedonia. The goals of this Commission were: organisation of film production, providing the technical equipment for such a production, preparing a development plan for establishing new cinemas etc. The Goverment of People Republic of Macedonia made a decision, dated with 21.08.1947, for the foundation of the film production company "Vardar Film".
